I bought my 2000 Ford Ranger XLT Sport with a passenger side exterior door handle that had broken off. I have removed the interior door panel and drilled out the handle fasteners and ready to install the new handle but I can`t get the rod from the door latch to go into the handle. Any pictures and pointers on this seemingly simple install going for me again would be greatly appreciated. I did buy a Chiltons manual for it and the 20 words they dedicated to it was not good (same with Haynes). It looks like I just need to get the rod hook through the eye of the door handle lever but it is almost imposible.

I finally got some help from my neighbor (a BMW mechanic) and he stuck his hand inside the door and 5 seconds later its working!. I would never have figured that the rod snaps out to hook the handle latch then snaps back in. Thank God. Now I have attached the handle and will finish the door panel tomorrow,,sweet! Here is a drawing for people of the future! that have a similar problem as I had.
