I have a 2007 Ford escape that smells of gasoline when i shut it off. The gas cap is ok and there are no gas leaks. Any help will be appreciated.

It may be a vapor leak.

Gas vapor is stored from the fuel system. This time of year vapor can be generated because of ambient heat. Don't know your location (your profile is not completed) but some areas are rather hot now.

There is a seal inside the gas cap that can rupture. You will not know it is ruptured unless you have an emission inspection.

The evaporative emission control does the storage. It is a sealed system. Unless it is not sealed and some part needs to be replaced.

May also be leak in intake manifold. Should be able to see/smell fuel on block.
