I have a 94 F-150 with a inline 6 motor, 5speed. It has a hard start, and a rough idle. Sometimes it will start, and then imediatly drop to about 400rpm and then eventually die again. once its on and running it has a rough idle. I replaced the plugs last spring, and they look fine, no carbon. Fuel related problem?

Do the basics first.Start with the ign and check wires,plugs,cap and rotor.Then I would look at fuel system,then look for vacuum leaks.Most likely you have a vac leak by the sound of it.

Did you also change the distributor cap/rotor?? On my 66 Fairlane, inside the distributor cap at the top is a small round carbon?? dome. This had worn down flush to the plastic top. Changed out the cap and rotor and my rough idle and serging miss went away.

To pop the cap and inspect would be a good idea if you haven't done that in a year, and is easy enough to do.

I agree with BogHog that it is more likely a vacuum leak, or possibly a sticking IAC.

Change fuel filter as well. Cheap and quick.
