How many of you have heard of painting headlights on the newer style trucks? I know I could just order some, but I'm looking to stay on the cheaper side. I already bought a pint of paint and metallic so I can paint my skull caps on the mirrors I just bought, so while I'm at it I'm thinking about painting my headlights black or PTMing them. I already know the process (I have painted a few things before) and have experience baking the lights apart. What are y'alls thoughts on it? Of course the reflectors for the lights are left alone and still have their normal output, It's really a just for looks thing.

sounds like you already know what you're doing. so, IMO i think it looks cool. if you're willing to do the work then go for it. when it comes to customizing cars, it just feels better to do the work yourself as opposed to slapping on some prefab stuff that everyone else can readily buy. its usually cheaper too. just my 2 cents...

Yeah, I do like the feeling of accomplishment when I do something myself instead of buying a prefabbed one. Now, next question do I paint them black or PTM (White Sand Tri-coat)? I photoshopped them black, and I like that, but I saw some the other day on a Blue truck that were PTM and they looked amazing. I'm just thinking it maybe to close to the chrome crud that is in there now.

are you trying to "paint" or "smoke" your headlights?

with a white truck i think the black would look funny i would go with the tri-coat. it would be so suttle that most people would not notice it and thats awesome.
