Hell everyone! I have a ‘71 Ranchero with a 351C and. C-6 automatic transmission. It has factory air. Does anyone know how much vacuum the engine pulls? My headlight actuator is bad and I’m thinking that I’m going to try and rig up a hydraulic system to open the headlights.

I don't think you will need a big difference in vacuum pressure for the head light covers. Anything over 10 to 15 inches. It is the volume that overcomes the spring tension of the doors.

The door actuator has a big diaphragm to make that happen.

I couldn’t get the actuator rebuilt so I put in a vacuum pump and it works great now!Ranchero
