There may have been a holder for sun glasses, garage door opener or????

You don't state year or van I think you have, since this is in the van forum. Econoline, Windstar or ???? What year. Difficult to assist with out some detail. Help us to help you!

And you could put that data in your signature line so it is always known. And up date your profile with location which can help for other things.

    Thanks

I went to the Ford online catalouge and they showed an overhead console with a partial head liner for a 2005 E-150 Chateu van
    But isn't been discontinued
I guess you could do anything tou wanted with it
Garage door Opener Like Action said
It must have not when over well
I bet you it isn't wired for anything
The way it looks to me is that it wouldn't store anything
    maybe owners manual etc

The door is like that, the lights and switches different. It is NOT wired for anything but it has a cut-out like something screwed in there. I'll just cover it over.

Both my 1998 and 2002 had this compartment. I have never really used it for anything, but I think it is a storage area for your garage door opener. The vehicle was likely shipped from the factory with a piece of velcro stuck on the top of the compartment. Similar to this photo I found online: ai20.photobucket.com_albums_b205_moultriemanicmechanic_IMG_2475.jpg

So here is what happened to my mystery hole. Used for Solar connections. A small solar control unit will go into the space that can be connect to battery as required. Van Solar 2-3.jpg Van Solar 2-2.jpg

Of course. Look at the image of the connector box on roof. That box is made just for this.
