About a year ago I ran across a post or website that detailed (with pictures) the replacement of a late model Windstar transmission (1999-2003). Now that I have 110K miles on my 1999 Windstar, I am concerned about lossing the transmission.

Does anyone have a link for detailed instructions for replacement of this transmission?

Have you had the trans serviced at each of 30,000 mile intervals?
That's the best proactive step that you can do.

If you made 110,000 miles on a Windstar transmission, you should consider yourself a lucky individual. Had a '98 that had 3 trannys replaced under warranty, and then one later in life that I had to pay for out of pocket. I think the dealer must have been running some kind of scam on Ford because I am not 100% sure they actually replaced it every time they said they did. Oh well, it got totaled last year with a hog strike and insurance payed out the enormous sum of $1600. All I can say to Windstar owners is "good luck". I did make it to 220k miles, but I did all the work on it myself after it went out of warranty except for that last transmission.
