The tab shown in the photos IS NOT FACTORY, someone has welded it into place. Notice the "bubble gum" weld.

Take it off the linkage, it doesn't beling there. it appears that someone saw the need for a throttle pedal stop other then the car's floor. probably someone who had a teenager that was driving the car at wide open throttle.

So chopping it won't affect anything. That's just what I wanted to hear. Thanks a bunch guys. It's gone.

I have always used duck tape for a rev limiter

 

...of course if your wife had the tab installed on the linkage because of the way you drive...
